On June 8, The Eternal Pink, a 10.57ct pillow-cut vivid purple pink diamond, will be unveiled at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewelry Sale in New York, with an estimated price of up to $35 million and an average per-carat price of $3.31 million.
The diamond was identified by GIA as a Type IIa diamond with Fancy Vivid Purplish-Pink and IF clarity grades, and Sotheby’s described it as having a “Bubblegum” pink tone. It is set in the center of a ring as the main stone, with a trapezoidal cut diamond on each side to complement the color.
The Eternal Pink’s pre-cut rough stone weighs 23.78ct and was mined by De Beers in Damtshaa, Botswana in 2019. Diacore, a US diamond cutter, acquired the rough stone, which took six months to cut and polish. The resulting 10.57ct pillow cut purple pink diamond.
The head of jewelry at Sotheby’s Americas says The Eternal Pink is the most beautiful and intense pink diamond he has ever seen, making it one of the most important diamonds of all time. The rarity and extraordinary clarity of the purple diamond make its valuation particularly striking.
