On July 13, 2021, renowned geologists Manas Banerjee and Richard Capeta and their team discovered a 7,525-carat raw emerald at the Kagem mine in Zambia and named it Chipenbel Emerald, meaning “rhino.”
A 5,655-carat column of lion emeralds and 6,225-carat elephant emeralds were also found in the mine. And these three rough stones are the top three high quality emeralds in the mines.
